Moving out of their old homeland, a couple of brave halflings embark on the adventure of creating something new. In a new area, you begin, full of zeal, to build a small, harmoniously coexisted village together.

When building the caves, and indeed the whole village, modern methods, tools and machines should be completely dispensed with. A stonemason cuts the stones with a chisel and the carpenter builds the beams from freshly cut tree trunks. While some professions have survived into modern times and have in some cases been further developed, there are many professions that have died out and whose techniques have been forgotten. The main focus should be on these trades and they should, as far as possible - also with the help of scientists - be revitalized. In particular, the old techniques should be rediscovered, as well as the professions associated with them, such as the slug maker, the leg turner, the letter painter, the copper engraver, the type cutter and many more.

In the emerging village, every craftsman should have his own job. In addition, his workplace should be connected to the center of his home and life at the same time. Each cave should be individually furnished and designed. No two are alike! They reflect the life of the craftsmen and their families. For example, a wide variety of clay jugs, plates and vases are stacked in a potter's cave. Many iron details can be found in the blacksmith's cave. Each cave has its own charm. The dwellings are built using different techniques. Inspiration comes from the Frisians with their “refrigerators”, the Langenstein caves or the Romans who built watertight wine cellars.

In Hablingen every craftsman is also an artist in his field and manufactures his products with the greatest care and dedication. Beautifully designed mailboxes, imaginative birdhouses, brightly colored flower beds, variously planted vegetable patches, delicious home-brewed produce. There are no limits to ingenuity. Although so different, everything comes together to create an atmospheric and atmospherically inviting overall picture that invites you to linger, relax and discover. There is always something new to see around every corner!

Undisturbed by noisy machines and vehicles, Halflingen offers a unique experience. The sounds of nature and the craftsmen take you into a completely different world, far away from the hectic hustle and bustle of the present. You have the opportunity to let your soul dangle and enrich your senses. You will definitely remember a visit to Halflingen for a long time!

At this point in time, we do not yet know the exact location where halflings will ultimately be set up. It is certain that Halflingen is to be built centrally in Germany. We are currently looking for a suitable plot of land that meets both our ideas and the requirements of such a special and unique project. On the one hand, the right raw and building materials (e.g. wood, clay and stones) must naturally already be available at this location, on the other hand, the property must of course also have the required size with appropriate expansion options. It would also be desirable if a supportive collaboration, which is fruitful for both sides, could come about with the local community. One of our primary goals is to create added value for the region and its residents while at the same time not neglecting nature and environmental concerns. It now looks as if the halflings would most likely want to settle in Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland, Baden-Württemberg or Bavaria. Nevertheless, they are still open to any suitable settlement location. We are fully aware that it will not be easy to find such a property and that the Halflingen project ultimately depends on whether we succeed.

A very special adventure awaits every visitor in Halflingen. Everyone can discover something new for themselves, learn interesting things or simply immerse themselves in this unique world and be enchanted by it. Whether demonstrations by the craftsmen, hands-on activities or home-brewed beer - Halflingen offers plenty of variety and a wide range of design options for visitors of all ages. It is up to you whether you prefer to explore halflings on your own or whether you would like to use one of the numerous offers. Of course, for most of them, watching one of the craftsmen and visiting the caves will be the highlight of any visit. At regular intervals, a small demonstration will take place at every craftsman, which will bring the relevant profession and the necessary skills and tools closer to the visitor and enable the craft to be experienced directly on site. In addition, there will be exciting stations all over Halflingen where you can try things out and participate. Perhaps you run into the postman while he is delivering letters and parcels in halflings or you make a short stop at a hawker who sells fresh fruit and other treasures on the village square. And of course there is always the opportunity to refresh yourself in the small, cozy inn "Zum Purzelbaum" or to explore the culinary offer in the restaurant on the colorful fairground. Family and company celebrations and other special events, such as weddings or anniversaries, can be celebrated in Halblingen either in a small family circle or in a larger setting.
